Staff and faculty must provide participants interested in engaging in Rice extracurricular or voluntary activities a release. A Rice release, commonly known as a waiver, reduces the University’s risk exposure. By signing a release, the participant releases the University from liability, harm and damage from participating in the Rice activity. Students must be at least 18 years of age and legally competent to sign the release. Minor students must have the release signed by a parent or legal guardian.
